Heartiest congratulations to poet, illustrator, and visual artist, Danielle Boodoo-Fortune, who was appointed Poet Laureate of Trinidad and Tobago on October 15, 2026. Danielle will serve a two-year term in this role.
I am very pleased about Danielle's appointment. She was previously featured on Poets of the Caribbean. Her collection, Doe Songs (Peepal Tree Press, 2018) won the 2019 Bocas Lit Poetry Prize.
Danielle has also contributed to anthologies, and some of the publications where her work has been featured include Small Axe, Cordite Poetry Review, Poetry London, and Room Magazine.
